If you walk into Isabelle's room when she is asleep, you will find her chubby little ball of warm-baby self curled up and sleeping, like this:

Lately, when you come into her room, and she is awake, you will find her happily standing at the side of her crib -- often sucking her thumb or making silly sounds. Very often she is giving "loves" to her giant giraffe friend who watches over her while she softly slumbers. It's very cute. She hugs giraffe and pets her furry mane and rests her head against giraffe's neck.

This morning the scene was not so serene. The had been violence in the bushveld. And when I walked in, instead of seeing my smiling little cub cheerfully hugging giraffe, I found giraffe helpless and still on the ground. The little lion had made her first kill.
