Word play.

Isabelle has been meeting her milestones and saying vowel sounds for quite sometime. In the last few weeks she has started saying things that sound like words. In particular "mamamamama" and "dadadadada." I hesitate to say these are her "first words" however because they don't seem to be aimed at me or Paul. But rather seem to be just sounds she can now make and mimic. So to all you parents out there - when do you say your baby has said his/her first word? Is it when they can say a word, or when the word appears to have some actual meaning/recognition? I say the latter, but what do I know...

What else is new in ITL land. Well she now powers up the stairs at light speed - still with little concept of falling. She seems to be a daredevil, careening off the side of the sofa or stairs with zero recognition of possible injury or pain that her actions may cause.

On the food from she is a carnivore (I know you are all shocked given that she is my child). Tonight for dinner, for instance, she had two sausage links, some turkey breast and a fair amount of steak. Gobbled it all up like a hyena. Of course she also had some string cheese, her staple, and cooked broccoli, which she loves. She is slowly learning to use her fork. If you spear the food and hand it to her she can get it into her mouth just about every time. The spoon remains a little more troublesome (a) because it usually has something liquidish in it and (b) she usually can't tilt the spoon enough upright to get all of the food off of it. But she is learning and it's fun to watch and see how satisfied she gets with her little victories.

In other news, we got her one of those bubble cars (see below). She loves it. It came with a little cell phone, which accounts for loads of entertainments. She will sit in the car babbling happily for 15020 minutes, easy. Oh, did I mention you have to be driving her around the house the whole time? Well yes, of course you do, but its worth it.

Last weekend Zach and Molly came over and "pimped" Isabelle's car out. It's pretty funny now. Isabelle doesn't seem to notice too much, but Zach and Molly had a great time and had to be told to take turns because they were fighting over who got to push her around in the pimped out baby mobile.
